BETHESDA
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

2023-2026

Since 1880, Bethesda Lutheran has been sharing the good news of Christ in Moorhead and around the world. While our facility and faces have changed during this time, one thing remains the same…our commitment to bear witness to the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Desiring to enhance our mission and ministry, the Building on Faith capital campaign program will allow us to move into a bright and promising future so that we can continue to do God’s work locally and globally.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

PHASE 1

ROOFING

To stop leaks during heavy rainfall and spring melting, six projects will be undertaken:

+Repair and patch existing rubber membrane roof areas

+Re-side leaking brick walls above flat roof areas above narthex

+Replace upper clearstory windows (above chancel)

+Replace exterior cedar shake siding at sanctuary

+Replace roof flashing caps at parapets

+Replace exterior soffits with metal soffits

CAMPAIGN COSTS

Costs associated with the campaign will be covered through the proceeds of “Building on Faith.”

SIGN REFURBISH

Our church sign on 40th Avenue is the first impression people have of Bethesda. Upgrading the sign with fresh paint, updated logos, and replacement of the lettering and covering will make our sign both inviting and welcoming to all who pass by.

OPERATING SHORTFALL

Campaign funds will be set aside to cover shortfalls to the General Fund for 2023-2024.

AUDIO | VISUAL

The current audio/visual system in our sanctuary is approx. 50 years old, making it sub-par and unreliable. New equipment will enhance our worship experience both in person and online.

DOOR SECURITY

To keep Bethesda safe for all, including our BAS children, a Secure Access Control (SAC) system will be installed, which will include an automated door controller, video panel, and monitoring handset. The SAC system will be programmable to lock and unlock at pre-established times as well as having Bluetooth capabilities for remote operation.

Financial gifts from the campaign will be given to Table of Mercy and Crossroads MSUM to offer mission support in our community.

PHASE 2

PARKING LOT RESURFACE

Continued maintenance of the parking lot is necessary to preserve the asphalt.

BALCONY GUARDRAILS

Our balcony guardrails do not meet today’s safety standards. Upgrades will be made to bring the guardrails up to code, making the balcony safe for children and adults.

GROUND LEVEL WINDOWS

The ground-level windows will be replaced with new insulated glass aluminum windows for energy efficiency.

COURTYARD BRICK WALL

The courtyard wall enclosures are leaning and crumbling in some places. Repairs will be made to stabilize the walls and create a safer environment in the courtyard.

SANCTUARY CARPET

The current carpet is old, stained, burned, and frayed. New flooring in the sanctuary will keep our worship space looking fresh and inviting.

KITCHEN CEILING

There are stained and missing ceiling tiles throughout the kitchen and narthex. New tiles would be installed throughout the kitchen and stained tiles would be replaced in the narthex.

10% TITHE

Financial gifts from the campaign will be given to Table of Mercy and Crossroads MSUM to offer mission support in our community.

Q&A

What is the purpose of the Building on Faith Capital Campaign?

Desiring to enhance our mission and ministry, Bethesda is entering into this critical capital campaign program. Building on Faith will provide us with the resources to make some much-needed improvements to our facility and property, secure funds to cover operating shortfalls in 2023-24, and allow us to bless Table of Mercy and Crossroads MSUM with a tithe from our campaign gifts. We believe this capital campaign will allow us to move into a bright and promising future so that we can continue to do God’s work locally and globally.
